About the Movie
What was Mark Whitacre thinking? A rising star at agri-industry giant Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Whitacre (Matt Damon) suddenly turns whistleblower. Even as he exposes his company's multi-national price-fixing conspiracy to the FBI, Whitacre envisions himself being hailed as a hero of the common man and handed a promotion. But before all that can happen, the FBI needs evidence, so Whitacre eagerly agrees to wear a wire and carry a hidden tape recorder in his briefcase, imagining himself as a kind of de facto secret agent. Unfortunately for the FBI, their lead witness hasn't been quite so forthcoming about helping himself to the corporate coffers. Whitacre's ever-changing account frustrates the agents (Scott Bakula and Joel McHale) and threatens the case against ADM as it becomes almost impossible to decipher what is real and what is the product of Whitacre's active imagination.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: In the end, it seems as though it's better to aim for searing moments and whiff on greatness than to shoot for the middle and hit it.
Fresh: After a parodic run-up, the film betrays a certain respect for this odd little creation.
Fresh: Soderbergh has decided to splurge on some big budget luxuries such as 'trained actors' and 'lighting' in his latest film (elements that have been missing from his more experimental works).
Rotten: It's like being told lies for an hour and a half. And I'm just not into that.
Im 15 and i recently watched this movie. to me it was a little complicated to understand some of the humour, and often i got lost. many old folks were there, and they thought it was great, so.. i guess if you find this movie funny, and if you understand business, i say go for it.
Clever, Funny, Intelligent
This movie benefits from its somewhat dry humour (dry is good ... sometimes) and its witty script. It can be a bit slow moving at times, but Matt Damon elevates the movie with his superb performance. The supporting cast lends a big hand as well, and so does the very old-school soundtrack. An entertaining watch, and I am also 15.
I'm a young adult and I thought this film was great! It's funny and it takes on the corporation crime culture. I honestly don't understand why more people didn't enjoy this. I would highly recommend it to all my friends.
