Shane Gulliver and Mark Tate (Treacle) are two ordinary 18 year-olds serving with the British Army in Iraq. Amidst constant insurgent attacks the platoon struggles to maintain the uneasy peace and to subdue a barrage of hostilities. When the popular company captain is killed on patrol by a roadside bomb, morale in the platoon hits rock bottom. Acting on orders they round up several suspects from house-to-house searches. That night feelings at the camp are running high and as the chain of command is weakened events spiral out of control. The Mark of Cain pulls you deep inside the Iraq conflict and shows you the true fear, horror and uncertainty of war.
FOR MEN ONLY
Can't beat the writing, acting and directing. Truly disturbing! Could easily be a documentary. My life is forever changed. I'm sure this kind of thing has happened often, and not just in the British Army. Really frightening. So sad, yet so true!
As a feeble-minded female, I was distraught at the content of this movie and couldn't sleep for weeks. If only I had listened to the advice of the previous poster who said this movie was for men only!
Sarcasm aside - decent acting, excellent and compelling story line that needed to be told. A bit over-dramatized in some instances, but overall, definitely worth watching.
Looks like a great movie....but the accents are so heavy you can't understand what they are saying! Wasn't in the mood for subtitles....if I want to read...I'll read a book instead of a movie.
