About the Movie

Academy Award® winner Angelina Jolie directs and produces this epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived on a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII – only to be caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand's (Seabiscuit: An American Legend) enormously popular book, it’s the inspiring true story about the resilient power of the human spirit.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: "Unbroken" is a rousing old-fashioned yarn with numerous exciting set-pieces and an uncomplicated hero you root for all the way through. It's entertaining throughout and made with a high level of technical skill. – Andrew O'Hehir,, Jan 4, 2015

Fresh: "Unbroken" stirs a moviegoer by default; it's an astounding story of human endurance that has been brought a little too safely to the screen. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Dec 26, 2014

Rotten: A tale of endurance, "Unbroken" takes endurance to sit through. – Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal, Dec 25, 2014

Rotten: Unbroken is a fitting title for this excruciating cinematic treatment of the flyboy's ordeal. It plays like an endless, unrelieved gauntlet of suffering, an onslaught untempered by grace or redemption. – David Hiltbrand, Philadelphia Inquirer, Dec 25, 2014

Soooo Good!

This movie is soooooo good. My dad said it was accurate to the book and had not changes in it from the book. This guy in real life, is amazing. However, I am still afraid of sharks and those scenes made every woman in the theatre jump out of their seats :)

I loved the book, and when I heard there would be a movie I was so existed!! One of the best movies I've seen and a great story of courage and heart!!

Such an inspiring story of endurance. A reminder to never give up hope.
