Madonna: Influences

Madonna: Influences

Raised on vintage Motown hits in suburban Detroit, Madonna saw her future when she attended a David Bowie concert while in high school. Hitting Lower Manhattan just as the post-punk underground dance scene was exploding, she drew a connection between rock attitude, pop hooks, and electronic beats. Her outspoken, sexy image was the culmination of all these inspirations.
