Description

Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

Mila Kunis

1. Let's start with I love Mila Kunis, 2. Let's also say I really like(d) this podcast, until this one...
Was it just me or was Dax creepy AF, honestly I felt like every second he was just talking about how hot Mila was, how he wished they had hooked up when he and she was single, just on and on, when you thought it was on to a new topic he would suddenly bring it back to her hotness... it was creepy AF! Literally it felt like this obsessed dude just hitting on her for 2h... more creepy that he's married, even more creepy that he is buddies with her hubby. It felt suuuppper uncomfortable --- like a handsie 'friend' that you don't know how to let down easily... not cool dude not cool.

p.s. on another note. stop interupting! OMG! i can't tell if the episodes are about the guest or about what you, what you think about the guest, what you think the guest might say, and again just about you.... let the guest speak!!!

Active listening?

I like the guests and the honesty in the discussions. But, damn, Dax - stop talking over and interrupting your guests all the time! If you have to, take some notes while someone is talking so you can circle back but let the guest say what they want to. That said, keep it up!

Room for Improvement

I listen to this podcast regularly and in the beginning I could hear the growing pains that Dax was going through and, for a time, he did improve. Unfortunately, he’s back to interrupting his guests regularly, not allowing them to finish their thought or completely shifting the direction of the conversation to interject his own experience. He spends too much time talking about himself or trying to interject humour to the detriment of the show. The episodes which are meant to be about the guests morph into the guests just responding to Dax’s interjections. He has the potential to be a phenomenal host and I do hope he learns to gently guide conversations as opposed to heavy-handedly doing so as is his current practice. Despite all that, I do enjoy the podcast and hope to see more diversity in his guests selection as the program grows.
