Company of One explores what happens when businesses challenge the idea that bigger is always better. The show explores a conversation around what happens if growth isn’t the byproduct of success. It's based on the book, Company of One (forthcoming from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt on January 15, 2019). The host, Paul Jarvis, is a writer whose work has appeared in Fast Company, WIRED, USA Today and more. He’s taught over 13,000 students through online courses and has worked with companies like Microsoft, Mercedes-Benz and Marie Forleo in design and online business consulting. The first season is 10 episodes and includes conversations with Laura Roeder, Jason Fried, Danielle LaPorte, Dan Provost, and Spencer Fry.

Customer Reviews

Three episodes in and I’m hooked.

Just like Paul’s emails, his new podcast is succinct, thought-provoking and injected with a dose of wry humor. If the Company of One podcast is any indication of what his forthcoming book has in store, readers are in for a treat.

If you don’t know Paul Jarvis, you should!

I’ve been a fan for a few years and I’m looking forward to reading his new book. This podcast is a great introduction to his beliefs on staying small in your business, with great clips from names you’ll recognize.

Quick episodes allow you to have a focused think yourself on the questions, and implement things without a long form episode to distract you.

Fantastic Podcast

Co1 podcast is my favourite so far from Paul Jarvis (and that's saying a lot, as he has some great podcasts!). The format of interviewing experts, and then providing narratives alongisde their answers, is a very structured approach that I've not seen before in podcasting. Personally, the most enjoyable part was when Paul brought on somebody who had the opposite views to him and dived into his thoughts on the subject. It was fantastic because it provided the listener with a wider view on the topic. I won't spoil the rest of the season but I will recommend that you take a listen!
