Writing 101

Having had the pleasure of meeting Justin (one of the hosts) at Comic Con 2008, as well as being both an amateur podcaster/writer myself, I was immediately intrigued when this well spoken gentleman mentioned he hosted a podcast about writing. This wonderfully produced and thoughtful show should be downloaded immediately by anyone who wishes to learn about the writing process or is simply wishing to hone their craft. The tips contained herein are helpful, the interviews are as interesting as they are informative, and the show's hosts as a whole are engaging and entertaining. A truly great show.

Adventures of the DRS

Justin, Terry, Ryan, and now PG, offer up round table discussions, sometimes with guest experts, on the art, craft, and business of writing, hitting many different genres and fields. Each show begins with an update from each of the available hosts on the status of their current writing projects before jumping into the main subject, filled with solid discussion by the engaging and lively group of writer/podcasters. Download it for the insights on writing and for the entertainment.

Fantastic podcast!

Dead Robots Society came to me by accident, but have been able to hook me with their insight and ideas on writing for the aspiring writer. Even though the hosts genre is in sci-fi/fantasy for the most part, their ideas and conversation about what makes a good book is universal. They explore ideas such as character development, plot, setting and just slogging through a slump. They make it personal, entertaining and easy to follow.

These guys are good together and unpretentious. They challenge each other and the listener to write a better story and have guests who are extremely knowledgeable in their field.

Please take the time to check these guys out. Pick a topic that you feel is important to you and start there. It inspired me to get back into what I love to do.
