As a Christian community that strives to live, play and help in the urban neighbourhoods of Calgary, we have chosen the name Commons Church to indicate our commitment to making the Kingdom of God tangible in our space. We believe God is invested in the renewal of all things therefore we want to live the "Good News" by being part of the rhythms of our city as good neighbours, good friends, and good citizens in the common life of Kensington.

Life Changing

While on vacation in Calgary years ago a friend took me to his church. The young pastor that day, Jeremy, unknowingly planted a seed that I should move to Calgary. So much to my delight a couple years later I'm living in Calgary & find out that Jeremy & his wonderful team now have a new church in Kensington. I found out about this church hours after their first service. I was SO disappointed but I found the church on FB & reached out. Later that evening Jeremy responded & said we should go for coffee that coming Thursday. That was nearly 1 year ago. Who knew my life would change so much for the better in just 1 year. I honestly feel like the Pastors write their sermons specifically for what I need to hear/learn each week. I often sit there wondering "how do they know?!"
There was a split in my church growing up & my family did not find a new church after they left. So this past year was the first time I attended church nearly every week, ever. This church is my family, my community. The message is carried in a way that even I can comprehend. Lots of pop culture references to keep things infesting. I laugh at least 2 or 3 every week. I'm no expert but these sermons ground my life every week like an anchor. They keep me hopeful & continuously striving to be a better person & give back to my community. A bulldozer could not pull me away from living in Calgary & attending KCC. If you live here have a listen & maybe come check us out some Sunday. If you live elsewhere you STILL have this wonderful opportunity to tune in. All the Best from Cowtown - Everett
