Description

Money. Romance. Tragedy. Deception. The story of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos is an unbelievable tale of ambition and fame gone terribly wrong. How did the world's youngest self-made female billionaire lose it all in the blink of an eye? How did the woman once heralded as "the next Steve Jobs" find herself facing criminal charges -- to which she pleaded not guilty -- and up to 20 years in jail? How did her technology, meant to revolutionize healthcare, potentially put millions of patients at risk? And how did so many smart people get it so wrong along the way? ABC News chief business, technology and economics correspondent Rebecca Jarvis, along with producers Taylor Dunn and Victoria Thompson, take listeners on a journey that includes a three-year-long investigation. You'll hear exclusive interviews with former employees, investors, and patients, and for the first-time, the never-before-aired deposition testimony of Elizabeth Holmes, and those at the center of this story. New episodes post Wednesdays.

top pick

followed this story years before the scam broke. You get to hear behind the scenes to see all the warning signs of the coming implosion. A scam like this requires a cult like rules for the employees.
Interesting line in one episode that it is a common phrase in silicon valley in evaluating companies, that for a period you are in the "fake it before you make it" category. Maybe this was the plan all along but giving cancer markers to someone in a blood test vs making a social media app was not a smart bet. Kudos to the producers and interviewer for the second , third and forth followup questions to get real answers out of the legal spin talking points. HBO doc should be very interesting in march '19, hollywood film will probably continue into her jail term period.

A Public Service

We can’t collectively push back on crime if we don’t hear about. Thus in-depth work like this is not only intriguing, but a public service. Stories need to be heard, especially for those who are hurt by these crimes. Very good work. Please keep going for the underdogs in this world.

Excellent with great new information!

Another great podcast from Rebecca Jarvis and her producer Taylor Dunne. There is something just horrifying about this story but I look forward to listening to this every week.
