Elementary follows eccentric Sherlock as he escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare – a sober companion, Dr. Watson. A successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago, Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, the restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients. He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and he's devised his own post-rehab regimen – resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City. Watson has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. But Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator. Sherlock's police contact, Capt. Tobias "Toby" Gregson, knows from previous experience working with Scotland Yard that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team. With the mischievous Sherlock Holmes now running free in New York solving crime, it's simple deduction that he's going to need someone to keep him grounded, and it's elementary that it's a job for Watson.

Found my HOUSE replacement!

I haven't watched Lucy Liu in a TV show since Alley McBeal where her character was probably the only reason I did watch that show. She's not the only reason to watch this show however. The characters develop very quickly in the first episode with a chemistry that I feel fills the void that HOUSE has left in my entertainment schedule and the quest for solving puzzles fits the bill as well. I think this show is a keeper! (would buy a season pass if I could based on the pilot)

Why can I not get a season pass for this show?? It's an interesting take on the Sherlock Holmes canon. Miller makes an intriguing Holmes and Lu makes an interesting (and gender-swapped) Watson. I'd buy a season pass IF it was available!

Surprisingly good

I'm a fan of most things Sherlock Holmes related, but I still approached this "re-imagining" with some trepidation. Lucy Liu as Watson? Holmes in New York? Watson as Holme's "sober companion"? I admit I was doubtful.

Well this show delivers. It has good mysteries with interesting solutions, and the leads really work well (both in their roles and as a bantering pair). It's an interesting and fresh take on the Holmes character, and definitely worth watching for mystery fans.
