In this epic adventure thriller, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology – computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights – has mysteriously blacked out … forever. A grand romantic saga with sweeping scope and intimate focus, this drama is seen through the eyes of one strong-willed young woman, Charlie Matheson (Tracy Spiridakos), and her brother, Danny (Graham Rogers). When Danny is kidnapped by militia leaders for a darker purpose, Charlie must reconnect with her estranged uncle Miles (Billy Burke), a former marine, living a reclusive life. Together, with a rogue band of survivors, they set out to rescue Danny, overthrow the militia and ultimately re-establish the United States of America - all the while, exploring the mystery of why the power failed, and if (or how) it will ever return.

Based just on the first episode, the show hasn't got a technological clue. From early 21st century back to the 18th century. NO STEAM POWER apparent -- no steam powered factories, or ships, or railroads -- as if steam technology needed electricity to run, or never even existed. A HUGE detraction to the series premise. They'd better hurry up and reinvent steam for future episodes. Otherwise, it seems to be saying that all human knowledge was stored electronically and is no longer accessible to most who now know only how to chop wood, milk cows, plant veggies, and ride horses. D'oh! The acting is mostly okay.

Amazing it!!!

Can't wait for the next one!

Nikobad is right tho, some technologies were missing...perhaps they will be seen in places with higher population density... A factory in a town of 50 people dosent make sense, unless it was to produce food.
I think the population drop from a shut down of food production would be dramatic.
Most specalizations would be lost.
A loss of power on a global scale for a sustained period of time would be equivalent to a dramatic climate shift in biology.
The specializations and attributes that made some dominate, would end up being there undoing.
