Description

Almost every day scientists find new planets and look further into the deepest reaches of space, breaking new ground in understanding the cosmos. Using stunning HD graphics, Season 4 of The Universe transports viewers to places we didn’t know existed a year ago. From death stars to ringed planets, star clusters to space wars, The Universe uses new discoveries and more advanced CGI to help explain the mysteries of outer space. Examine which elements from popular sci-fi movies could really exist – from the ice moon of Endor to wormholes and transporters. Discover how the universe is awash in all sorts of strange liquids, from oceans of methane, to blobs of alcohol floating in space, and even iron rain. And watch as experts cook up ten ways to destroy the Earth, including blowing it up with anti-matter, hurling it into the Sun, and colliding with another galaxy. This season features special “Ask the Universe” segments in which our most popular experts answer viewers’ questions.

Customer Reviews

It's great... if you're a 12 year old with ADD.

Overly dramatic music, thunderous sound effects, manic editing and lots of things exploding. The overall style is a bit gimmicky and tends to upstage the actual subject matter, which is engaging and informative enough on its own – though sometimes repetitive. To be fair, this series was obviously meant to appeal to young people – hence the movie-style sound and glitzy computer graphics. This is exactly the kind of educational program that would be played in a sixth grade science class. Great for youngsters, but adults interested in this topic might prefer less flash and more substance.

interesting show, but somewhat repetitive, and the top 10 countdowns are cheesy.

Great show

Great value and lots of interesting info. Also well narrated. Can't wait for season 5!
