The baroque Londoners double down with an entire mountain range of towering pop choruses. And as band introductions go, this 25-track behemoth—featuring Bastille’s debut record, additional original tracks and covers like the joyous splicing of Snap! and Corona that is “Of the Night”—is pretty undeniable. From the giddy chanting of “Pompeii” onwards, frontman Dan Smith displays a dazzling ear for melody that’s strong enough to match the mythic grandeur of his lyrics.

Combining glossy '80s synth pop and arena-friendly choruses on singles such as "Pompeii," London's Bastille sold millions of their debut album Bad Blood. The group began as the solo project of singer/songwriter Dan Smith -- whose birthday is July 14 (aka Bastille Day) but became a full-fledged band in 2010 with the addition of Chris Wood, William Farquarson, and Kyle Simmons.
