About Tribal Seeds

Tribal Seeds is an American reggae band founded by brothers Steven and Tony-Ray Jacobo, who put a 21st-century spin on the classic roots sounds of the ’70s. ∙ Inspired by the music and message of Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, and Peter Tosh, the Jacobo brothers formed Tribal Seeds while they were both still in high school in San Diego, CA. ∙ The band’s self-titled second album earned them Best World Music honors at 2008’s San Diego Music Awards. ∙ The Harvest, released in 2009 and featuring guest vocals from P.O.D.’s Sonny Sandoval on the song “Warning,” was their first album to find a wider audience outside Southern California. ∙ They scored their big breakthrough with 2014’s Representing, which spent 66 weeks on Billboard’s’s Reggae Albums chart, where it peaked at No. 1. ∙ In 2017, their EP Roots Party, featuring guest vocals from Jamaican singer Protoje on the track “Gunsmoke,” topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for two weeks.
