Spiceworks is a free at source IT Management tool which provides great functionality including Inventory Management and Service Desk. Barkode for Spiceworks is an IOS app that is used in combination with a small Java application, installed alongside Spiceworks on a Windows Server instance. By creating non-discoverable Asset types within Spiceworks, adding in data fields, such as Scan Date, Location and Status, IT Techs will be able to create, update and manage any Asset data from within the IOS app, as they are on the move around their business. They will also be able to add these fields to agent discovered devices, managing PC asset data in the same way, bringing greater control across the whole IT estate.
The functionality within the app also enables the implementation of Asset Management Processes such as:
- Goods in Receipting
- Moves and Changes
- Starters and Leavers
- Stores Management
- Asset Retirement
These processes enable better control over every asset, not just those held within your inventory with the Spiceworks agent, so the smart Tech knows where everything is, who has it and what function or role it is playing within the business.
V1.0 of the Barkode for Spiceworks app contains single scan functionality, giving the ability to scan and update a single asset record at a time. Future versions will include in app purchases to unlock further functionality, such as Multiple Scan, Location based scan, User based scan, Audit scan and Consumables Management, increasing functionality and efficiency.
Barkode for Spiceworks is produced by Indigo Mountain who have a track record of Asset Management enablement through similar products, BarKode for KACE and AssetBlox Asset Management Suite. Indigo Mountain’s aim is to put more power and control into the hands of the IT tech through smart functionality and common sense processes.
