Threezies is a great family card game for kids to adults.
The goal of Threezies is to gain the fewest amount of points over the course of several rounds. Arrange your cards into groups of "3" to discard your hand and go out. As the rounds progress, more cards are added, making the game progressively more complex!
Threezies is played in 8 rounds (3-10).
Each round players are dealt the number of cards in that round number (3-10).
The goal of each round is to go out. When one player goes out, other players accumulate points based on the cards left in their hands.
The winner at the end of the game is the person with the fewest points.
The first deal, players are dealt 3 cards.
Play rotates to the left, starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
A player has the option of selecting a card from the top of the deck, or from the top of the discard pile.
A player must then discard.
If a player can go out, they lay down their hand so that others may verify.
If a player has gone out, each other player has the chance of 1 more draw and 1 more discard.
A player then lays down their hand for view.
After a player has gone out and each player has made their last play, points are totaled for that round and a new round starts.
For the next round, the deal rotates left and players are now dealt 4 cards (continue up to 10).
In order to go out, all cards in your hand must be in a group. See grouping cards below.
Cards are grouped when they are in a group of 3 or more hence the name.
A group can contain cards of a single number.
A group can contain a straight of the same suit.
2 groups cannot share a single card.
Aces can be considered high or low but they cannot be wrapped.
Wild cards can be added to any group.
Each round, there are 4 wild cards. The wild card is the same number as the cards dealt.
eg. The first round wild cards are 3's. The second round, wild cards are 4's. etc.
Wild cards can be substituted for any other card.
The goal in Threezies is to have the lowest score at the end of the round.
At the end of each round, points are added for each card NOT in a group (eg single cards or pairs).
Each card is worth the number value for points. Aces are worth 1 point, and face cards are worth 10 points.
Wild cards that are not in a group are worth their number value.
Every card in a group is worth 0 points.
The winner at the end of the game is the player with the fewest points after all rounds have been played.
