Much is made of the rebel background of the three women of Carter’s Chord. They are daughters of Carter and Barny Roberson, two of Waylon Jennings’ classic-era Waylors. They have named their 2011 EP Wild Together, and yet their music isn’t especially rebellious. It’s sweet, melodic country-pop that taps into the spirit of the Dixie Chicks, containing a similar melodic bent and reliance on harmony, but lacking the bluegrass underpinnings. Wild Together is firmly planted in the pop side of country-pop, but the tunes are sturdy enough and Carter’s Chord are charming enough to make this thoroughly appealing crossover country.

Combining sisterly harmonies, photogenic looks, and a music-filled family background, the country trio Carter's Chord is comprised of singer/songwriters Becky, Emma, and Joanna Robertson.
