Soak the Saddle contains jumbled, blathering, and spastic noise rock coupled with vocals shifting in and out of coherence, rambling on about quirky dirty-sex abstractions and childish dirty-diaper themes. Arab on Radar bends the thumbs of music way back — nearly to the point of breaking — in the tradition of fellow noise rockers Melt Banana, and with nearly as much chaotic structure as the babbling Storm & Stress. This is experimental art punk with a large set of balls that have been kicked an uncountable number of times; it's messy and discordant, but falls into discernible lines of rock just enough to make some overactive scissor-style punk rock.

In 1994, the members of what was to become Arab on Radar were all applying for jobs at Electric Boat, a Groton, CT-based company that manufactures nuclear and Trident submarines. After going back and forth to the company for three days and taking a series of three tests lasting 17 hours, the members became friends.
