Yesterdays Are Forever

The Masters, retired professors, have a minor disagreement: JoAnne wishes Ike, her husband of 42 years, to write an autobiography. Ike balks and questions her motives for suggesting it. To bolster her case, JoAnne recommends ghost writer Amy Donovan to help. Ike agrees, discovers Amy to be a former student, and accepts her advice to explore his epiphanies.



However, at their second meeting, Amy ignites fi reworks when she mentions the name Mel White. Ike blanches. JoAnne seethes. And Amy puzzles. From there, Ike pursues the autobiography to please his wife. Amy investigates Melanie and the careers
of JoAnne and Ike. JoAnne rehashes the major crises of her life: her sublimated career, her miscarriage, the still-birth of her only son Julius, and Ikes affair with Melanie.
But, JoAnne concludes her real angst comes from three sins kept secret for fifty years that if confessed will likely kill her marriage.
