Reseña de álbum

Smooth pop and MOR offerings by Ruby and the Romantics including original versions of "When You're Young and in Love" and "Hey There Lonely Boy" (redone by Eddie Holman as "Hey There Lonely Girl"). The lovely, lilting "Our Day Will Come" struck gold and hit the number one spots on the R&B and pop charts. "My Summer Love" features Ruby Nash singing to a sparse musical accompaniment and above the soft harmonies of Ed Roberts, Leroy Fann, George Lee and Ronald Mosley; it cracked the Top 20 (nesting at number 16) — a good showing for a second release. "Hey There Lonely Boy" lacks the fire of Holman's, but the Romantics' original did make the Top 40, stalling at number 27. Despite its stark beauty and melodious hook, "Young Wings Can Fly," their fourth single, failed to enter the Top 40 (braking at number 47). The Akron, OH natives' fifth single, "Our Everlasting Love," should have done better but stopped at number 64, their worst showing to date. A disturbing trend had developed: each single had done worse than the previous. "Does He Really Care for Me" had a tougher sound than earlier releases but only reached number 87. There are only ten tracks, so some excellent cuts were omitted, particularly "Moonlight and Music."

Lead vocalist Ruby Nash Curtis, Ed Roberts, George Lee, and Leroy Fann were the original members when they began in Akron in 1961. The male members had previously been working in a group known as the Supremes. Unfortunately, they never again repeated their chart success, even though...
