Reseña de álbum

Rose Murphy's little-girl voice first caught the public's fancy with her interpolation of the nonsense term "Chee-Chee" into "I Can't Give You Anything But Love"; she was known for the remainder of her career as the "Chee-Chee Girl." This early hit and 11 other songs she recorded in 1947 make up this Audiophile compilation. With guitar and bass supporting her efforts (neither of whom are identified), she clearly owes a debt to Nat King Cole for the format of her trio, but she hardly copies his singing style. Her little vocal inflections get tiresome at times, but the music never fails to swing, thanks in part to her piano chops, which she generally displays in small doses. While a little Rose Murphy might go a long way for many jazz fans, after just one hearing it is easy to understand why she proved to be so appealing when the public discovered her.
