About Valgeir Sigurðsson

The founder of the Bedroom Community label, producer and composer Valgeir Sigurðsson, worked with fellow Icelander Björk on the albums Selmasongs, Vespertine, and Medúlla, as well as the soundtrack for Dancer in the Dark. Some of the world’s best-known ensembles and orchestras have performed his scores. His solo releases began with 2007's Ekvílibríum. His soundtrack to the 2010 environmental documentary, Draumalandið, drew plaudits for its powerful motifs and creativeness. A score for Stephen Petronio's ballet Architecture of Loss garnered a high level of praise for its melding of emotive chamber music with microtonal electronics. Wide Slumber for Lepidopterists, a musical theater piece, won the Music Theater Now award in 2016. ~ Simon Spreyer
