AVG Family Safety® is a free, secure, family-friendly Web Browser, which helps protect your children from inappropriate websites, while also keeping your whole family safe from scam, fraud, phishing and potentially malicious online content.
We’ve just added AVG’s Do Not Track, which helps you identify which websites are collecting data on you and your family when you use Apple mobile devices, and gives you control over whether to allow tracking of your family’s online activities.
This new privacy feature is in addition to the existing security and parental control features of AVG Family Safety, which come on top of the built-in mobile security provided by Apple® for your iOS® device. AVG Family Safety will block sites that you may not wish your children to see when they are surfing the web on an iPhone®, iPad® or iPod touch®, and also help prevent your family visiting malicious websites that try to misuse personal data.
By downloading and using AVG Family Safety’s secure browser, as an alternative to Safari®, you can take steps to ensure:
•You and your family only visit safe websites. Websites that are known to be malicious or contain scams or malware will be blocked, using data provided by AVG’s LinkScanner® technology. You will be notified and prevented from accessing the suspicious website.
•Your children are protected from mature and inappropriate content. Sites that are deemed inappropriate will be blocked, with the category displayed on screen.
•You and your family are able to identify which websites are collecting data on your online activities and gives you the choice on whether to allow it.
AVG Family Safety works just like other web browsers, and features:
•Browser history of websites visited
•Bookmarks for favorite websites
•Address bar that hides to maximize screen space
•Works with WiFi and mobile data Internet connections
When you use AVG Family Safety in conjunction with AVG Family Safety PC desktop product, you will also be able to:
•Easily customize the list of allowed and blocked sites
•Monitor the online activity of the different users of your Apple device/s
•Block social networking and other sites (per mobile device)
The AVG Family Safety desktop PC software can be downloaded from: www.avg.com/avg-family-safety?cmpid=mob_ios
In order for AVG Family Safety to work effectively, we recommend locking the use of Safari. To do this, just follow these 3 simple steps:
(1) Open “Settings”
(2) Choose “General”
(3) Choose “Restrictions”. Restrict using safari by dragging the slider under the “Safari” option to “OFF.”
Once other browsers are disabled, links and URLs will be accessible only from AVG Family Safety.
Languages supported: English, Spanish, Czech, Italian and French.
Devices supported: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch.

Good, but needs work yet
Good idea, but doesn't have all of the bugs fixed yet. The toolbar at the bottom with all the buttons, such as "back" or "open a new tab" are not working. Therefore you get stuck on a page without the ability to leave, without closing the app. Open the app, and you are right back to the same page you were stuck on. AVG tech needs to upgrade this app, please, with fixes for this. Thanks! The desktop version of this software for PC is good. Please fix app routinely as issues arise. Thanks again.
It blocks sites appropriately, however once the warning pops up that the site has been classified as pornography and to click "OK," the app is stuck in an infinite loop where you tap OK and then the warning pops up over and over. Since you can't reset the search, you basically have to just delete the app from the device. I deleted the app and reinstalled it several times before just giving up. Looks like my daughter's iPad will have no internet search application since no one can provide quality parental controls for internet search engines. It would be nice to see Google develop something.
The installation went smoothly, and at first it seemed that this mobile browser for iOS was a noticeable improvement over its antecedent (from the BSecure company); it ran faster and more smoothly. Then, after a few days, the app stopped working at all. I would touch the icon, the splash screen would pop up, and then the app would just close. Eventually, the iPad version started working again, but I still cannot get the app to launch again on my iPhone. (An iPhone 4 running the latest version of iOS)
