Album Review

In June 2001 Rocketown Records released one of contemporary Christian music's first electronica projects. Entitled Rhythms of Remembrance, the album is a product of artist apt.core, the brainchild of producer and musician Will Hunt. With a name inspired by the belief that the "center of our being is made sufficient through Jesus," apt.core merges singing and spoken Bible passages with a combination of electronic and world music. The goal of the release being to provide a worship project, aimed at moving people not only physically through the beat, but also spiritually. Featuring a unique blending of electronica with world music's African and Eastern influences, Rhythms of Remembrance is an intriguing project from start to finish. Each song includes a specific Scripture passage, such as John 14:6 in "The Way" and Psalm 40 in "40," which is repeatedly recited throughout the track. Intermingled with vocals, the recitations are tastefully done, not serving to overburden the listener with redundancy. Other tracks include "Creed," "Meditate," and "Blessed."
