About Antonis Remos

With the 1996 release of his self-titled debut album, Antonis Remos emerged as one of the premier Greek pop stars of his generation. Born June 19, 1970, in Düsseldorf, West Germany, at age ten he returned with his family to their native Greek city of Thessaloniki. After graduation Remos worked a series of odd jobs while moonlighting as a singer on the local club circuit. In 1995 he relocated to Athens, opening for the likes of Dimitris Mitropanos, Stefanos Korkolis, and Mario Tokas, ultimately landing a record deal with Sony. His debut earned double platinum certification within a year of release, buoyed by a sold-out tour -- Keros Na Pame Parakato followed in 1998 and was even more successful. Greek songwriting legends including Christos Nikolopoulos, Yannis Parios, Stamatis Spanoudakis, and Antonis Andrikakis penned original material for Remos' third album, 1999's Pali Ap'tin Arhi. A year later, he scored with "I Agapi Ine Elefandas," the title theme of the hit film, then notched his best-selling single to date with "Fly with Me," a hip-hop-inspired remix of his earlier hit "Meine." By the 2001 release of Mia Nihta Mono, Remos was firmly established as the biggest star in contemporary Greek pop. The follow-ups Kardia Mou Min Anisiheis and Mia Anapnoi both went triple platinum, and in 2004 he issued his first concert LP, Live. San Anemos hit retail in 2005. ~ Jason Ankeny
