Julie is a Danish singer/songwriter who embarked on a popular solo recording career after rising to fame on the television show Popstars. Born Julie Berthelsen on June 7, 1979, in Aarhus, Denmark, she grew up in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland. She began her performance career in the 1990s, when she sang in a series of bands. In 2002 she appeared on the television show Popstars and finished as the season's second-place runner-up. The following year Julie embarked on her solo career, releasing her chart-topping debut album, Home (2003), on EMI. The album includes her number one smash hit debut single, "Every Little Part of Me," plus the follow-up singles "Shout (Our Love Will Be the Light)," "Completely Fallen," and "Home." Her second album, Julie (2004), was similar in style but less popular, failing to make the Top Ten of the albums charts. The singles "It's a Wonderful Feeling" and "Lover's Lullaby" were released, yet neither failed to rival the popularity of her debut single, "Every Little Part of Me." After some time off, Julia released her third album, Asasara (2007), which returned her to the top of the charts. The album includes the singles "Tomorrow," "Take Me Away," and "Time Traveller." Fourth album Lige Nu reached the Top Five and spawned a couple Top 20 hit singles, "Moment's Bliss" and the title track. ~ Jason Birchmeier
