About Schleprock

SoCal punk outfit Schleprock formed when the Bay Area scene was at its finest. Vocalist Doug Caine and guitarist Jeff Graham formed the group in 1989, and within a year Ernie Berru (drums) and Sean Romin (guitarist) completed the lineup. Several 7" singles, such as "Do It All" and "Long Time Ago," were issued on Nemesis in 1991 and the band rollicked right on through countless gigs across North America. At the helm of grunge, Schleprock released Propeller on Dr. Strange in 1994 and continued to build a name for themselves. Bass player Dean Wilson was added to the lineup in 1995 as Schleprock's heavy punk snarl was getting bigger. Warner Bros. took notice and signed the band in 1996. (America's) Dirty Little Secret, which appeared before the year's end, kept with Schleprock's nasty punk rawness. Long Time Ago followed on Cool Guy in 1997. The band effectively broke up that same year, and Caine and Berru formed the revivalist punk outfit Generators in LA. In 2005 Schleprock's original lineup reunited for a few gigs to support the unreleased and rarities set Learning to Fall. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
