Comprised of a husband-wife combo, Roger and Debra Talley, plus their daughter Lauren, the Talley Trio specializes in contemporary gospel. In the '70s, Roger got his start with another gospel outfit, the Hoppers, while Debra sang with the Songmasters Quartet. The pair married in 1978, as Debra joined Roger as part of the Hoppers, and in 1984, formed the Talleys, along with Roger's brother, Kirk. The group remained together for nearly a decade, until 1993, when the band split because Roger and Debra decided to spend more time with their daughter. But by the late '90s, Lauren expressed interest in singing, prompting her mother and father joining her in the formation of the Talley Trio. The new band immediately began releasing albums, resulting in such releases as 1998's So Thankful, 1999's Life Story, and 2000's Testament (the latter produced three Top Five hits, including the number one single and SGMA Song of the Year nominee, "Searchin'"). In addition to their album, the Talley Trio tours year round, and have been featured as part of such festival concerts as Gaither Homecoming Tour, Praise Gathering, and FamilyFest, as well as playing on cruises to such locales as Alaska, the Bahamas, the U.S. & British Virgin Islands, Cozumel, and the Grand Cayman Islands. 2001 saw the release of The Talley Reunion: Live After Eight Years, which featured Kirk rejoining the band. ~ Greg Prato
