The Chocolate Watchband

About The Chocolate Watchband

Like many psychedelic garage rock bands of the 1960s, the Chocolate Watchband had a short-lived existence. Formed in California in 1965, the band recorded one album (NO WAY OUT), endured line-up changes, and broke up by 1967. But the group’s edgy, proto-punk feel, swirling guitar lines, and full-tilt energy struck a chord with the audience of the time. Producer and band manager Ed Cobb milked the band’s name after their demise by releasing two albums using previous Watchband recordings and session musicians. In the ‘90s and 2000s the Chocolate Watchband have enjoyed renewed interest from garage rock revivalists. Compilations and live recordings have appeared, and their entire discography was released on CD by Sundazed Records.
