About Vega

Melodic rock group Vega were heavily inspired by '80s AOR, albeit with the sensibilities of a contemporary rock band. Twins Tom and James Martin formed a number of bands together prior to Vega. Their first group, Sugartown, was formed in the late '90s. They went on to have key roles in Kryah, Albion, and the Station Club, as well as a vast number of writing credits for other groups. They met drummer Dan Chantry through his work in both Kryah and the Station Club. They first encountered vocalist Nick Workman when the band he was fronting, Kick, supported Thunder on their 1999 farewell tour. However, it wasn't until 2009 that the four of them banded together to create Vega. With a full lineup including James Martin (keyboards), Tom Martin (bass), Workman (vocals), and Chantry (drums), they began work on their debut album. Kiss of Life was released in 2010 via Frontiers Records. Soon afterward, Vega took to the road in support of their debut, enlisting two guitarists to aid in them in their live performances. For the next few years they used the rinse-and-repeat approach of recording, releasing, and touring. They released their sophomore album, What the Hell!, in 2013, followed by Stereo Messiah in 2014. By the time of their fourth album, Who We Are, they had hired a permanent fifth member, guitarist Marcus Thurston. Who We Are saw release in 2016 on Frontiers Records. ~ Liam Martin
