Seal made his name with songs about lust, and into middle-age, we have the bittersweet answers to his youthful protestations of love. With “Daylight Saving" we hear the painful truth of a relationship demise (adding emotion his very public real life divorce), while single "Every Time I'm With You" dreams of better times. It's not all heartbroken torch songs: house producer Jamie Odell adds a subtle Italo disco spin to "Life On the Dancefloor" and the dramatic "Padded Cell". The rawness of his voice in "Do You Ever" and "The Big Love Has Died”'s head-on dissections of fading love, however, shows that Seal exists on an elevated plain separating extraordinary balladeers from ordinary ones.
