No discographical information is provided in this 23-track British compilation, but the tracks clearly derive from Marlene Dietrich's studio recordings and soundtrack performances of the 1930s, beginning with "Falling in Love Again," which she sang in The Blue Angel in 1930 and concluding with "The Boys in the Back Room" from Destry Rides Again (1939). In between, she sings in English, French, and German, essaying standards like "You Go to My Head" and "You Do Something to Me" in her stylized German accent, and sounding more comfortable with such songs as "Wo Ist Der Man?" sung in her native language. Despite the lack of annotations, this is a good collection of Dietrich's earliest recordings.
