German industrial pioneers Rammstein have made some of the most uncompromisingly aggressive music of the '90s and beyond. The special edition of their career-spanning compilation pairs 16 of their best songs with remixes by a host of wildly different artists, from Swedish prog-metal extremists Meshuggah to dry-witted electro-pop duo Pet Shop Boys. Amazingly, it works. Most daring might be Faith No More’s take on “Du riechst so gut,” which transforms the original’s driving, electro-industrial churn into something approaching ambient music.
