Like You Do...Best of the Lightning Seeds is a splendid collection of Ian Broudie's finest moments, offering a definitive portrait of his appealingly sunny, catchy melodicism. Drawing from all four of the Lightning Seeds' first albums, the collection hits all of the high points — including "Three Lions" and a re-recorded "Waiting for Today to Happen" — and adds two new songs, "What You Say" and "Brain Drain," which are as engaging as the group's hit singles. In all, it's an ideal introduction for neophytes, and for longtime fans, it's a welcome reminder of Broudie's fine pop craftsmanship.

The wispy pop outfit the Lightning Seeds were essentially the solo project of noted producer Ian Broudie. Born August 4, 1958 in Liverpool, England, Broudie first emerged as a member of Big in Japan, a product of the same Liverpudlian post-punk scene that gave rise to Echo & the Bunnymen, the Teardrop Explodes, and Icicle Works. After Big in Japan split in 1979, Broudie followed a brief tenure in the Original Mirrors by producing the first two Bunnymen LPs, Crocodiles and Heaven Up Here, as well...
