Alex K is an electronic dance music DJ from Australia with an NRG style and a deep catalog of mix albums, most notably the Ultimate NRG series released by Universal Music TV in the United Kingdom. Born Alex Karbouris on November 29, 1979, in Sydney, he got his start in the late '90s in association with the Australian Central Station Records label. Beginning in 1999, he was credited with mixing the six-volume Kickin' Hard series of NRG albums on the label. He also released production work of his own during this period, most notably the tracks "Pussy Whipped," "U Got It," and "Angel in My Heart" on the Central Station Records sublabel Dinky. He also remixed tracks by Central Station Records artists such as Marianne and Amen. During the mid-2000s he released the ten-volume Klubbed series of 12" singles on the label of the same name. More significantly, he released the first in a series of Ultimate NRG multi-disc mix albums. The first volume was released in 2006 on the U.K. label All Around the World, while subsequent volumes were released in conjunction with Universal Music TV. These Ultimate NRG albums proved quite commercially successful in the United Kingdom, the first volume selling over 100,000 for instance, and beginning in 2008, Alex K supported them as a participant in the annual Clubland tour package. In the meantime, he kept busy as a producer and remixer. One of his more notable productions was "If You Were Mine," a single taken from The Alex K EP, released on All Around the World in 2008.
