Ebenezer Obey

About Ebenezer Obey

Nigerian star, Ebeneezer Obey, formed the juju band, the International Brothers, in 1964. He dubbed his style "miliki" (essentially heavier and faster style of juju), and by the early '70s was rivalling King Sunny Ade in album output and sales. Although Obey never achieved the international profile of Ade, his albums, particularly the adventurous funk and highlife of JE KA JO (1983), were highly acclaimed, and he remained hugely popular in his native Nigeria.
