Biography

Specializing in duranguense music, El Guero y Su Banda Centenario are a regional Mexican act based in San Antonio, TX. The bandleader, El Guero, was born Jorge Hernández in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Mexican immigrants from the state of Jalisco. Counting guitar, piano, drums, and percussion among his talents in addition to singing, El Guero moved to San Antonio in 2004 and embarked on a recording career with the label A.R.C. Discos. His full-length debut album, Para Mis Compás (2004), includes a couple songs written by his uncle, the esteemed songwriter Ramón González Mora, who is best known for his work with Conjunto Primavera, among others. Subsequent El Guero y Su Banda Centenario album releases on A.R.C. Discos include El Amigo de Tus Penas (2005), Una Vez Mas (2006), Cumbias y Polkas (2007), and Antes y Despues (2008). The latter features his biggest hit to date, "Antes." ~ Jason Birchmeier
