About Tyler Bates

∙ Tyler Bates grew up in a log cabin formerly owned by Al Capone, and he maintains that the house was haunted. ∙ Prior to film scoring, he was in the rock band Pet, which was signed to Tori Amos’ record label in the ’90s. ∙ Bates frequently collaborates with director James Gunn and scored the Guardians of the Galaxy films. ∙ He scored multiple horror movies directed by rocker Rob Zombie, including 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects. ∙ Bates has cowritten two albums with Marilyn Manson—2014’s The Pale Emperor and 2017’s Heaven Upside Down—and joined Manson’s band as a guitarist on several tours during this time. ∙ In 2015, he wrote a theme song for the Tennessee Titans, his favorite NFL team. ∙ Bates composed the music for Cirque du Soleil’s Las Vegas residency show R.U.N.
