The digital newspaper format - why it matters
There is no need to write about the wide range of topics covered by the Guardian, no newspaper in the UK, France or Germany can match this. But to detect all these interesting articles you need the guidance of the daily downloadable edition which the internet site is not good at. I do not go directly to one of the sections I am interested in but start at the beginning and go page by page. I read articles I would otherwise not have read. Thumps-up for the digital team.
An independent view
I have read the Guardian iPad edition for a few years and am very pleased not to have to buy a copy at the kiosk any more since that was not always possible. Its distinguished comment and editorial sections offer much food for thought. The guardian can pride itself of its great newspeople who stand up to corporate and political power and do so with the calm confidence of reason. The only drawback is that copies cannot be stored.
The one objection I have is to breadth of coverage of some minority positions in liberal societies which are being raised to a level I feel is no longer appropriate.
