Just what I was looking for
It’s exactly the kind of game that I wanted to play. You just kill monsters and build up your character so that you can slay stronger monsters and get better items. So far it has been perfectly playable without transactions and you do not not compete against other players which might pressure you into it. I find it relaxing, the half automatic battle system and lack of consequences for failure make for a nice way to grind without investing energy into it like an action game would have you do
