The Waianae Journey application represents the history of the Health Center, the history of Hawaiian medicine, culture, and community in Waianae Hawaii.
Each path is filled with petroglyphs, plants, and other landmarks that represent the link between the past and future, which is the journey through our healthcare home.
This version features an interactive map that allows campus visitors to learn about the petroglyphs and other landmarks they see along the walking trails.
The story pages provide video and other historical information and are linked throughout the map.
Kauila Clark, the current board president of the National Association of Community Health Centers, narrates the landmarks and stories of this journey.
The welcome video message features Agnes Kalanihookaha Cope ("Aunty Aggie"), founder of the Waianae Coast Cultural Arts Society (WCCAS), past chair of the state wide Native Hawaiian Health Care System, and recently honored by Governor Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii who declared April 8, 2011 as “Agnes Kalanihookaha Cope Day in Hawaii."

This is a 40th anniversary special edition version containing information regarding the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center's 40th anniversary celebration, including new landmarks for the map which represent information kiosks newly built to house many of the historical information and new upcoming projects.
A new kiosk represented in the app is the Best Practices kiosk. Information about the Best Practices as well as role the Health Center will be made available during our 40th anniversary celebration happening at the end of this month. Visitors will be encouraged to download the app and walk the trails to prepare for a game requiring them to have visited several of the landmarks in the app to be able to answer questions correctly.
