QUETTA -- By all means, Balochistan is a resource starved province of Pakistan and successive Governments denied funds on one pretext or the other. The reasons are known to the rulers or decision-makers. Presumably, Balochistan is an ignored province in political sense as Balochistan plays no role in making and unmaking governments at the Centre, dislodge or reshuffle powerful or semi-almighty bureaucrats for working against the interest of Balochistan. This logic is understandable as Balochs are not in the mainstream politics of Pakistan and if they are treated as second class citizens, then there is no harm in getting such treatment. For the same reason, Balochs are the ardent supporters of complete autonomy for the provinces as Baloch representation in the Central Government is almost zero. Thus Balochs are least interested in the Central Government, leaving aside a powerful central Government. That is why they are making autonomy demand more loudly than others.
