New Beginnings Or Coping with Change (Primary Voices‪)‬

Our profession is in the midst of change. We all know it; we do not all like it Many of us are in new positions. The American Association of School Librarian's President Cad Harvey has moved to a middle school position rather than having to split his time between two elementary schools. AASL Past President Cyndi Phillips is taking on a new role as her district reassigns everyone to task specific jobs rather than building specific jobs. AASL Past President Sara Kelly Johns has retired and is plunging more fully into the academic world. The high school teacher-librarian for the Stoughton High School is settling into her second year at the secondary level after we closed her elementary school because of declining enrollment. Many elementary schools are being run by educational assistants rather than professionals. Many teacher-librarians are now running several libraries instead of one. Some teacher-librarians have had to move back into the classroom to remain employed. Teacher Librarian has a new owner and is evolving into its new skin as well. These situations are all different but they are all big changes!
