Receiver of Many

Dieses Buch kann geladen und in iBooks auf deinem Mac oder iOS-Gerät gelesen werden.

Persephone's life has been one of leisure among the verdant fields: the maiden of flowers, sheltered by her mother, the Harvest Goddess Demeter. Now she is a woman, a goddess in her own right, yearning for freedom even as the terms of an ancient pact are about to come due.

Hades's life has been one of solitude in the somber land of the dead: for millennia he has served as the God of the Underworld, living without attachments, eternally governing the souls of mortals. But he dreams of the young goddess who was promised to be his wife, and knows it is time for his Kingdom to have a Queen.

When Hades arrives to claim his betrothed, he finds a young goddess eager to unearth her divine potential and a powerful mother unwilling to let go. Receiver of Many begins an erotic story of passion and possession, duty and desire, and a struggle that threatens both ancient Greece and the Realm of the Dead itself.

Von Publishers Weekly

11.01.2016 – Alexander's crowdfunded debut, an eroticized retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth, shows her knowledge of Greek mythology, but she fails to put the power of the legend to good use. This wordy 500-page novel only tells the first half of the story (Destroyer of Light follows in 2016). More importantly, Alexander relies too heavily on creating conflict through people failing to communicate. After Hades kidnaps Persephone, his feelings are so intense that he avoids her, and she feels neglected. Then he refuses to reveal that he arranged the kidnapping because Persephone's mother, Demeter, planned to turn her into a tree to keep them apart. In turn, Persephone refuses to proclaim her love. Even when they become a true couple, the author manufactures another conflict: Hades broods that she will outgrow him while she worries he will resent her. The overwrought dialogue feels like parody ("Your gods... where are they now, priestess?"), and the plot plods along. (BookLife)
