Entering King Tubby's dub world of spooky organs, ghostly and detached voices, echoing gunshot drums, and watery, reverb-drenched guitars is a bit like waking from a dream, a mid-place where the familiar takes on eerie shapes and simple sung phrases take on mysterious overtones. While a whole album of this stuff will start to feel like overkill for casual listeners after two or three tracks, for the dub-initiated, there is no one like King Tubby. This collection features "Angel Dub," "Zion Gate Dub," and other classics.
