Bringing in a set of expert musicians and DJs, Einaudi has undergone yet another reinvention, this time illuminating his 2015 record Elements from a distinctive standpoint. Although brief, Elements (Remixes) invites one to contemplate what lies at the intersection of classical, dance and post-rock. While Mogwai’s rendition of “Drop” is a thrilling study in building tension, Starkey’s remix of the same song is more pensive, taking the opportunity to examine some of its subtle electronic possibilities. Eagles & Butterflies offers a more straightforward techno update for the title track.
