Album Review

Influenced by Leonard Cohen's Songs from a Room, Quinze Chansons is the melancholic fourth studio album from French indie pop vocalist Vincent Delerm. Released in 2008, the follow-up to Les Piqûres d'Araignée is packed full of pop culture references with songs that name-check footballer Patrick Vieira, photographer Martin Parr, and actor Patrick Dewaere. Produced by Jean-Philippe Verdin, its 15 tracks include collaborations with trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf, Swedish singer/songwriter Peter von Poehl, and former Les Innocents frontman J.P. Nataf. A bonus edition, featuring two extra tracks, "Italie" and "Le Nombril," was also later released. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

As a teen, he embraced British post-punk icons the Cure and Joy Division,...
