This 2003 Sondheim sleeper follows the bust-boom-bust trajectory of globetrotting brothers Addison and Wilson Mizner, who can live neither with nor without one another. Opener "Waste" is witty Sondheim sauciness stippled with the dark undercurrents he excels at. Much like Addison's never-fulfilled dream of building an art colony—"a happy fusion of Indonesian and Andalusian"—there's plenty here to suggest Sondheim channelling early-20th-century radio tropes, especially in "Boca Raton".
