About Burhan G

Danish R&B star Burhan G debuted in the early 2000s with a hip-hop-influenced R&B sound that bore a strong resemblance to Justin Timberlake's early solo material. Born Burhan Genç Koç in Brøndby Strand, Denmark, he got his professional start as a backing vocalist in the popular Danish pop-rap group Outlandish, when he was featured on the song "Walou" from the group's second album, 2002's Bread & Barrels of Water. Burhan made his full-length solo debut, Playground, in 2004 on BMG. The album was a success, spawning the hit single "Take U Home" (which he sang in English) and earning three nominations at the 2005 Danish Music Awards. He would win in the Best New Danish Artist category. In 2007, Burhan released his sophomore album, Breakout, which featured the singles "Who Is He" and "Sacrifice." That same year, he appeared as the featured rapper on Ida Corr's smash hit "Let Me Think About It." Produced by Fedde le Grand, the song was an international success, charting throughout Europe, including a few number one chart placements. In 2008, Burhan began performing in Danish, setting aside his previous English-language focus. He scored his first Danish-language hit, "Kun dig," that summer. His quadruple-platinum self-titled Danish debut Burhan G followed. In 2010, Burhan topped the Danish singles charts for the first time with "Mest Ondt," which featured vocals by Medina. His 2013 LP, Din for Evigt, became his first chart-topping album. Three years later, Burhan returned with his fifth album, Pas På Pigerne. ~ Jason Birchmeier & Neil Z. Yeung
