About Danni Carlos

Brazilian singer Danni Carlos rose to fame as a performer of English-language pop/rock hits adapted for her homeland, though she later took to performing Portuguese-language material of her own. Born Danniela Carlos on July 2, 1975, in Rio de Janeiro, she made her recording debut in 2003 with Rock 'n' Road, a collection of English-language pop/rock hits including Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine," the Divinyls' "I Touch Myself," and Fleetwood Mac's "You Make Loving Fun." The album became a major hit in Brazil, and a series of similarly fashioned follow-up albums resulted, including Rock 'n' Road Again (2004), Rock 'n' Road All Night (2005), Rock 'n' Road Movies (2006), and Rock 'n' Road Acústico (2007). In 2007 Carlos released her first album of self-written material, Música Nova. Featuring the chart-topping hit single "Coisas que Eu Sei," which was chosen as the theme song of the Brazilian telenovela Duas Caras, Música Nova itself became a major hit, peaking at number two on the albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier
